I spent a week at the Chelsea Hotel and fell in love with it. It was January, and the weather was brutally cold. The plumbing starting clanking in the early hours, and the furnishings had definitely seen better days, but I've never stayed in a hotel which has intrigued and fascinated me more. These photos represent a fraction of the artwork on show there when Matt and I visited...all gone now. What an act of vandalism... The legendary hotel was home to far too many luminaries from the world of music, art and literature to name here...and to some seriously troubled souls too. I'm very sad that so much of the Chelsea's colourful past has been whitewashed over, and very grateful that I stayed there when I did.
